Titans Rise, Giants Fall

Momentum swings, statement wins, and a clear top tier take shape heading into Week 9

It was a defining week in the ZHWFFL, one that separated the steady from the shaky as mid-season nerves began to rattle across the standings. Some teams made statements that echoed through the locker room chats, while others limped out of Week 7 wondering if they’d left their mojo back in September.

At the top, Air Raid John continued his air-dominance, improving to 6-2 with a commanding 146-point effort. Patrick Mahomes dissected defenses, and his supporting cast of Pittman, Henry, and Jacobs looked like a playoff machine firing on all cylinders. Meanwhile, BK’s crew hit turbulence once again, managing only 87. Brad’s squad has shown flashes, but those flashes are fading quickly as his record sinks to 3-5.

In another marquee showdown, Waka Flacco Flame erupted for 142 points, torching Kluv’s Mystery Mustache 142-70. Chris’s team finally looked like the high-ceiling roster we’ve been waiting for — Joe Flacco was efficient, Saquon Barkley and James Cook combined for monster yardage, and the Patriots D made sure Caleb never sniffed a comeback. For Kluv’s Mustache, the loss stings not just in the standings but in style; the offense sputtered, leaving fantasy pundits wondering if the early-season spark is dimming.

Murfstyle delivered the week’s biggest explosion, dropping 150.38 on poor Cody’s Brussel Sprouts. Josh Allen and Breece Hall led the offensive barrage while Tampa Bay’s defense piled on bonus points for good measure. Cody’s struggles continue, now 2-6 and in desperate need of a shake-up before the playoff picture leaves him behind.

Over in the “grind-it-out” game of the week, 4th Down and Kakaw! clawed past Cracker of the League 107-91 thanks to a balanced effort led by Justin Herbert and Devonte Adams. Conrad’s squad put up a fight but couldn’t keep pace as Mitchell’s team climbed back to .500 and re-entered the playoff hunt.

JHENNY was the shockwave of the week, thrashing the previously surging DEI Re-hire 142-63 in a statement win that sent ripples through the standings. Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor combined for nearly 60 points while Travis Kelce and DeVonta Smith reminded everyone why this roster was feared on draft night. For Adam Hobbs and DEI, it’s a stumble, but not a collapse — at 5-3, they remain firmly in title contention.

And finally, L7 Weenies cruised to a 116-51 victory over B-Dog’s Z-Dynasty, whose once-promising lineup has hit a skid of bad luck, injuries, and lineup gaps. Trevor’s squad, on the other hand, looks playoff-ready behind Bo Nix, Waddle, and McCaffrey — a dangerous trio heading into November.
